"First Column"
Then we got excited about the idea, and met about our “First Column.”
Discussed in this post:
Veridian IPA, Banded Brewing Co., Biddeford. IPA — American 6% ABV Citra, Summit, Azacca, and Chinook hops.
Whole Lotta Lupulin Double IPA, Smuttynose Brewing Co., Hampton, NH. Imperial/Double IPA 8.6% ABV Citra, Amarillo, and Simcoe hops.
Coors Light, Coors Brewing Co., Golden CO. Lager — American Light 4.2% ABV 10 IBU
(Beer information as it appears on Untappd)
Pete pours a Veridian IPA for Jeff and a Whole Lotta Lupulin double IPA for himself.
Jeff: We now have a good excuse to spend even more time in bars and breweries, but, we’re not writing reviews or recipes, are we?
Pete: No, we’re storytellers, not scientists; but we’ll offer our opinions, like ‘Coors Light has the Devil’s soul.
Both sip beers.
Jeff: Listen, Coors Light sells itself as the world’s most refreshing beer. It makes no claim to being flavorful, or substantive. So it competes with water, and although our Sebago Lake water is better, there is a place in the world for Coors Light, places where water must be boiled before consuming.
Pete: How’s that Veridian?”
Jeff: Good. You can really taste all the hops, but it’s not too bitter. The aftertaste is almost lager-like. What about the Lupulin?”
The Lupulin was nearly gone already, what with the sipping.
Pete: Surprisingly easy to drink for a double. At 8.6% ABV I could see someone drinking a couple of these too fast.
More sipping.
